New York City School Closings (NYC)

FOCUS-GLOBAL.CO.CC-Mayor Bloomberg declared a weather emergency for New York City but he declined to mention whether the city's public schools would be open or closed tomorrow.

With both students and teachers dreaming of a snow day, the mayor promised that he would inform the public of snow closures before 5 AM on Wednesday.

That deadline comes as a bit of a set-back for many parents who will be scrambling tomorrow to make plans for childcare, should schools close.

Some colleges in the area, such as St. John's University in Queens and Stony Brook University on Long Island, have already closed.

Below is a list of announced school closings in the five boroughs as of 9:15 PM on Tuesday evening:

Villa Maria Academy - CLOSED

Kings

Bay Ridge Preparatory - CLOSED

Catherine McAuley HS - CLOSED

Holy Name Brooklyn - CLOSED

Saint Mark School - CLOSED

Queens

Divine Wisdom Academy - CLOSED

Holy Cross High School - CLOSED

Notre Dame Catholic Academy - CLOSED

Saint Kevin School - CLOSED

Saint Michael's School - CLOSED

St. Batholomew School - CLOSED

There have also been significant school closures in Nassau and Suffolk counties, and in New Jersey as well.

Due to the weather emergency, city residents are asked to not drive or travel unless it is absolutely necessary.
