Ambush on Indonesian Police Office Kills 3 Officers

A gang of armed men with guns had an attack on the office of Hamparan Perak Resort Police, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, Wednesday, at around 12.00 p.m. - 00.30 a.m. local time. North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector-General Oegroseno said there were between 11 until 12 armed men riding 6 motorcycles and having the ambush.

They were reported of shooting at the office causing destruction and casualties on materials of the office including glasses and the death of 3 police officers on spot.

"This was an ambush, we have not been able to identify the armed men. There is a strong possibility that they are well-trained with the guns used," said Oegroseno at the crime scene.

Asked by Kompas whether that was related to police's bust of robbers connected to terrorists in last month's brazen bank heist in Medan, Oegroseno could not confirm that yet. To hunt for the armed men, police officers are being placed in three directions mainly border

areas such as Belawan.
