In her early life, Jewel Staite was born June 2, 1982 with birth name is Jewel Belair Staite at her hometown in City of White Rock,British Columbia (BC), Canada. Jewel Staite is the youngest of seven children, and Jewel Staite modeled as a child and has acted since age six. Jewel Staite has stated that she is of British, Irish, French Canadian, and Iroquois ancestry.

In her personal life, Jewel Staite attended the Vancouver Film School and worked at the Vancouver Youth Theatre. Jewel Staite married Matt Anderson on April 25, 2003. Jewel Staite has worked with the Dyslexia Foundation and several AIDS charities.

In her career, Jewel Staite played the role as Kaylee Frye in the short-lived space western television series “Firefly” and its subsequent 2005 film, “Serenity”.
